Cultural Events
At HAPPI, we believe that creating cultures of connection and care is among the most important work of our time. This happens over long periods of time, but simultaneously it occurs in moments - moments when we gather together, in celebration, in grief, in collaboration, or simply to share a meal together.
We like to do this a couple different ways, which you can explore in the sections below:
Happi Holidays
Culture exists in cycles. It is built on traditions of gathering year after year, in a predictable and replicable way. If you want to know a community, understand their holidays.
It is from this perspective that we began to ask, what are the holidays of the culture we want to live into? What do we gather around - or rather what gathers us?
The following are our humble answers to those questions. May these traditions feed the world(s) to come, a regenerative and liberated future that is sprouting in each of our hearts and hands.
Interdependence
Day
This holiday comes around the same time as another holiday with a similar, but quite different, name. We gather in celebration of and recommitment to our interdependence; to one another, to the lands and waters we call home, and to the mystery which weaves us together.
In 2025 we gathered in the hills of the East Bay and 2026 we celebrated in west Sonoma County at Landwell.
Inheritance
Day
Inspired by the Terran Collective, Inheritance Day is an exercise in radical imagination. Taking place 150 years in the future, participants gather to celebrate the work done by “our ancestors” to create a regenerative and liberated world.

Past Events
Corn-secha:
A collaboration between HAPPI, ILALI (the Innovative Living and Learning Institute), North Bay Organizing Project and North Bay Jobs for Justice, “Cornsecha” put a spin on a traditional harvest (cosecha) festival. Together we enjoyed a sunlit afternoon, made tamales together and feasted, listened to the groovy tunes from Rascuaches, and witnessed some incredible ritual dancing from Danza Xantotl
